Ingredients
  

  • 4 ripe tomatoes diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves chopped
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 baguette or Italian bread
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Dice the tomatoes and place them in a mixing bowl.
  • Mince the garlic and add it to the tomatoes.
  • Chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the mixture.
  • Drizzle the olive oil over the tomato mixture.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet.
  • Toast the bread in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  • Spoon the tomato mixture onto each toasted bread slice.
  • Drizzle with balsamic vinegar if desired.
