Cheesesteaks Marlow at Budd Dairy Food Hall
There’s always a lot going on in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- North Market Downtown announced this week that Marlow’s Cheesesteaks will be joining its ranks sometime in mid-October. The Philadelphia-style sandwich shop takes the place of Willowbeez Soulveg, which recently closed its stand in the northwest corner of the market. Marlow’s also operates a brick and mortar in Gahanna and a stand in the Budd Dairy Food Hall.
- Next Monday, Sept. 30, a new restaurant from the creator of Rooh in the Short North is opening near Polaris. Flour Modern Pasta Bar will feature a prix fixe menu of appetizers, salads and house-made cocktails, along with desserts and a full cocktail menu. Located at 1540 Polaris Pkwy.
- Earlier this month, The Purple Door Cafe opened in Zora’s new house in Weinland Park, serving coffee and tea from Fruits & Roots and snacks from Three Bites Bakery and Bake Me Happy.
- The first Columbus location of Korean hot pot and barbecue restaurant One Pot opened last week at 3720 W. Dublin Granville Rd. in Dublin.
- Gallo’s Restaurant opened its newest outpost this week, Gallo’s Pizza & Bar, at 5851 Frantz Rd. in Dublin. Focuses on New York style pizzas, pasta and sandwiches.
- Last week, Boba Paradise & Cafe opened a booth at Bubbly Hall in New Albany.
- If you watched again The bear and you’re craving a Chicago beef sandwich, you can catch a pop-up at The Jury Room (22 E. Mound St. downtown) tonight – Friday, Sept. 27th – 5:00pm to 9:00pm The bar will be open and you can grab Chicago beef sandwiches for $12.
- The last Matt the Millers Tavern in the Columbus area, at 6725 Avery-Muirfield Dr. in Dublin, has been rebranded as MTM Tavern Steakhouse. The restaurant will also begin to feature menu items from Oscar’s of Dublin, which closed earlier this year after nearly 30 years in business.
- Andy, Bethia, and Erin of Columbus Food Adventures launched a new newsletter on Substack last week called the Columbus Foodletter, featuring essays, reviews, and observations on the Columbus food scene. You can subscribe to free and paid versions.
- The Come & Go Center at 884 Oakland Park in Linden has new owners and will continue to offer takeout and prepared foods, in addition to convenience store services.
- And in case you missed the news last week, last call is for SuperChef’s in Gahanna (closing September 29th) and The Butcher & Grocer in Grandview (closing this afternoon, September 27th at 2pm).
