There’s always a lot going on in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- A new gathering place called Firefly Winery will hold its grand opening in Old Hilliard this week. Described as an “urban winery,” Firefly is located at 5435 Franklin St., down the street from Center Street Market. It offers a variety of house wines and snacks.
- A new cocktail-centric sports bar called Capri also opened this week at 39 E. Gay St. the center of the city. Capri is run by the folks behind the recently closed Bistrolino in German Village and offers a mix of classic and creative cocktails, plus sophisticated bar snacks like lamb meatballs, chicken za’atar wings, and lobster mac and cheese.
- Katzinger’s Deli celebrates its 40th anniversary next week, Thursday, October. 24 with a party at their German Village location. Tonight they will be offering free hors d’oeuvres, soft drinks and live music. You can reply via this link. Katzinger’s also partnered with Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, which brewed a special rye pilsner called 1984. Additionally, Columbus Food Adventures is hosting a holiday feast at Katzinger’s on Thursday, Nov. 7. You can reserve seats here.
- Today, Hoyo’s Kitchen opens its new burger concept, Rhino Smashburger Co., at Bubbly Food Hall in New Albany. It will serve burgers, fries and shakes.
- A new cocktail bar called the Sand Valley Cocktail Club was announced this week; is slated to open in early 2025 at 6770 Riverside Dr. in Dublin Bridge Park.
- Yoshi Yum recently opened a third central Ohio location at 3889 Powell Rd., formerly Mr. Location Hibachi.
- Tune into the Food Network tonight at 9pm to see Worthington’s own Joya’s Cafe featured in Restaurants, discos and diving.
- This week, Three Tigers Brewing in Granville and Brew Brothers in Scioto Downs won bronze medals at the Greater American Beer Festival in Denver. Three Tigers picked up an award for their Oatmeal Stout, while Brew Brothers won some hardware for their mild English. They are two of seven Ohio breweries to take home medals.
- The German Village Apple Festival is this Sunday, October. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the corner of City Park and Thurman Avenues.
- And Sunday is Worthington’s Sunday Fundays with a Spooky Pooch Party theme. There will be food trucks, specials from local restaurants, street vendors, performers and a costumed pet parade.
- on November. 20 Columbus Monthly Magazine is hosting its fall cocktail competition at Vitria on the Square.
