There’s always a lot going on in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- The owner of SuperChef’s Breakfast & More has announced that after 13 years, their final Columbus-area restaurant at 1344 Cherry Bottom Rd. in Gahanna will close after Sunday, Sept. 29. SuperChef first started in Louisville, Kentucky before opening two locations in Columbus. The first one on East Broad Street downtown closed in late 2020 as its building was demolished. Owner Ryan Bryson thanked customers and said he made the decision to close the Gahanna store while he considered whether to renew his five-year lease beyond October. 1.
- The Butcher & Grocer announced this week that their Grandview store will close in October. 1 after more than eight years in business. Owner Tony Tanner said in a press release that they will focus on some wholesale sales, but primarily operate their co-packing business for Ohio farmers.
- Chef and owner Yonder Gordon of Way Down Yonder New Orleans Finest Restaurant has announced that the business will be relocating from its location on South High Street. His last day in his current building is this Sunday, September. 22. She doesn’t have a new location yet, but said their food truck will continue to operate in the meantime.
- The old Smith & Wollensky space in Easton has found a new tenant! News broke this week that Rick Doody, one of the co-owners of Lindey’s in German Village, will open Bar Italia there next year. You can read more details at Sending.
- Dos Hermanos Tacos opened a new location this week in the Polaris Fashion Place eatery. That makes five locations for the taco shop, which includes stalls in both North Markets, a storefront in Easton and a taco truck.
- Last Wednesday, a new Indian restaurant called Taj on Fifth opened at 1021 W. Fifth Ave. The restaurant and bar are run by partners including Ajay Kumar (of the old Taj Mahal) and people from Everest Cuisine. You can get a full look at the Taj on Fifth here!
- A new eatery called Dahab Restaurant & Café is opening soon at 3708 Fishinger Blvd. in Hilliard.
- This week, Toro Meat Market opened its fourth location in Columbus, this one in the former IGA at 704 Parsons Ave.
- Tune in to the Food Network tonight – Friday, September. 20 – to see another Columbus favorite appearing on Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives: Tommy’s Diner!
Great events coming soon!
- On Saturday, Sept. 21, you can go to the stretch of South High Street just south of downtown, for the South High Block Party. Local businesses such as Emmett’s Cafe, Law Bird, Daily Growler, Cobra and Smoked on High will offer food and drink specials, entertainment and more.
- This Sunday, Sept. 22nd from 12-5pm is next Sunday Fundays at Old Worthington. This month is Oktoberfest themed, with games, entertainment and food and drink specials. Yours truly will be a hot dog toss!
- That same day is the Go Fourth Block Party at Italian Village. You can enjoy food and drink, music, performers, activities and more at the Budd Dairy Food Hall, Seventh Son Brewing and Habibi Grill.
- Finally, Tuesday, Sept. The 24th is Pint Day in Ohio! You can visit participating Ohio breweries to order a beer and purchase a limited edition pint glass, all in support of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association.
