6 Columbus Coffee Drinks to Try This Fall

Autumn is MY TIME TO SHINE. I look forward to these days of cooler weather, bright colors and cozy evenings all year long. One of my favorite perks of fall is the arrival of seasonal specials at local coffee shops. They range from innovative takes on the beloved pumpkin latte to creative ways to capture the essence of fall. So here are six seasonal coffee drinks to try around Columbus!

Perhaps one of the most dramatic and iconic local fall drinks is Roosevelt Coffeehouse’s S’moretado. The lightly sustaining drink takes a traditional cortado (equal parts espresso and warmed milk) and serves it in a chocolate-cracker-rimmed Gibraltar glass, with a toasted marshmallow on the side. Does it get any more fall-like than this?!

I love the creativity coming from Royal Flamingo, from the coffees they deliver to the roast profiles to the drinks. The Dupe, Where’s My Maple? is one of the most dynamic fall drinks on local menus. It recreates a maple latte without the actual maple syrup, using house-made brown sugar syrup flavored with cardamom, coriander, cloves, nutmeg, and—wait for it—toasted fenugreek!

Brioso always includes a few winners in their seasonal lineup of drinks, and even with the cooler days of fall, they’re still rocking the cold brew. Their Chillin Like a Villain takes the homemade cold brew and infuses it with cold foam flavored with tea and cinnamon.

Florin’s entry into the fall coffee game is the simple yet easy-to-love Sweater Weather. It’s a cappuccino flavored with maple syrup (from one of Florin’s team member’s family farms) and grated nutmeg. Surrounds you with a cozy taste of autumn!

Moonbird Coffee is a charming trailer parked on Holly Avenue in Grandview, just south of Fifth. I love their Espresso and their Mystic Rhythm Latte, and they tackle the quintessential drink of the season with The Pumpkin. The rich latte is made with toasted spice-infused pumpkin butter, brown butter and Watershed Distillery Nocino.

Parable Coffee’s entire menu is top-notch, from their pour-overs to their espresso to their specialty drinks, and their fall menu is no exception. Pictured above is a brown butter maple cortado with a hint of sage. But also not to be missed is the I Yam What I Am, an espresso-based latte flavored with yams and marshmallow.
